For the cycle ‘El club de las malas malas hierbas’ we wanted to vary the format of the residency. We propose the research and elaboration of a graphic image to each of the invited artists and collectives, who will send them in digital format so that we as Todo por la Praxis can produce a piece that will intervene the public space at the border of Melilla. This project arises not only as a result of the deaths that occurred at the hands of the police in June 2022, but above all because of the daily reality that circumscribes this border and the ways and imaginaries that Spanish society has about it.

*Colectivo Democracia (ESP) is an artistic collective from Madrid that works on the basis of discussion and confrontation of ideas and forms of action. The very fact of working in a group makes them interested in intervention.

*Caldo de Cultivo (ESP-COL-USA) is an artistic collective formed by Unai Reglero and Gabriela Córdoba Vivas, currently based in Buffalo, New York. As their name suggests, they create conditions of possibility in which collective action and resistance can emerge and flourish. They function as a (counter-) propaganda office, combating the mechanisms through which the violence of the state is hidden and justified the violence of capital.

*Levi Orta (CUB-ESP) artist who investigates the creative component within the political, focusing on the inaccuracies of the art-political border, inaccuracies where reality becomes irrational and consequently a potential work of art. Orta is interested in highlighting the subversive political nuance of political-artistic realities by reproducing their own mechanisms and strategies, always from a cynical stance that underhandedly attacks the hegemonic.

*TODO POR LA PRAXIS (ESP-CL) Critical art and architecture collective made up of visual artist, researcher and pedagogue Jo Muñoz (CL) and architect, artist and founder of the collective Diego Peris López (ESP). Their interests focus on dissidence as political forms of resistance that construct other possible imaginaries. They use collaborative practices to install spaces of critical thought and agitprop, counter-advertising and the visibilisation or guerrilla of communication as aesthetic/political counter-narratives. In doing so, they seek to activate new transcultural subjectivities, as forms of emancipation and decolonisation of dominant thought, based on processes of research/production/action in both geographical and symbolic territories.
